Fun in the California Sun

It has been warmer than we like here for the last week. I think it has been around 85 or so. We took Summer and Sierra to the beach on Aug 8 for a couple of hours and it was so beautiful. The girls and George was in the water like dolphins. We were there just long enough that Shirley has a slight sunburn on her back. Tomorrow we go to our timeshare up by Escondido for the most of the week. We need to return on Saturday so we can attend a friends wedding. The next week we will be back home and working on the motor home getting it ready for out September trip to??????? We are planning on meeting Kenneth and Cheryl at Tucson. We have heard that it is really nice about 4 hours drive south of the border at Nogales. Anyway at this point it is still in the planning stages. We traded RJ (Red Jeep) in on a 2000 Nissan Frontier 4x4 crew cab pickup. We have bought new shoes for it and have it ready to tow behind the motor home. Here is a picture of it.

It is bigger than RJ and the AC works great and has a automatic transmission. I am sure we will miss RJ but it does not last very long when you climb into ST (Silver Truck).

It gets HOT here too!

Today was the 2nd day we had over 100" weather. It was so bad even with the a/c on in the Blazer I was sweating on those leather seats. (Now I rememebr I don't like leather!). :)
Shea is hooked up looking like an alien she thinks. She has a 3 day EEG hooked up on her head, they are trying to 'catch' seizure activity on a monitor so they can see what kind of seizures she is having. We get to stay up ALL night tonight and then ALL day tomorrow too! FUN! They tell you to do this in hopes of your body being tired causes a seizure to begin.

Terry is in Oklahoma City this week. He called tonight to say that the people in OK are just a little bit different. I explained to him that is why they are called OKIES.

Lene' just finished up helping our church in San Angelo with their VBS this weekend. SHe has started attending church there after we left. Oh well atleast she is going now. AND>>>>> OH OH the best news yet!!!!!!! She and Jonathon broke up.!!! WOWHOWOOOHOW He is moving out on the 16th that is when his other place will be ready.

We are awaiting to hear back from Shea's Make A Wish Grantor so we can finalize her wish. After MUCH deliberation she has changed her 'wish' from Hawaii because of the long flight & her not being able to do some of the excursions she wanted to do to ......your not gonna believe this...................a cruise. Yes, a cruise and the only one that has swimming with the Dolphins is...............a Western Carribbean cruise aboard the ROYAL CARRIBBEAN. It will make 2 port stops and only 2 of them are the same places we went in April. But you know, Terry and I enjoyed the cuise so much that we don't mind at all getting to go again!

Not much else here going on. If anyone is up LATE tonight give us all call, we'll be up!

Love to you all

Rio Camarie

Midland has gotten a TON of rain this year. You wouldn't think we were in West Texas. This was Wednesday night about 2 a.m. Our neighbor called us and said water was coming in his garage, we might need to get up and look and see if it was coming in our House! About two years ago it rained less than this and it came in our back door. Ronny had to dig a trench from the back yard to the front drive way so the water would drain off. He dug that trench in Record Time!!! : ) Our back yard is very unlevel and slopes to the house, which we plan to fix very soon. But this year, about 4-5 months ago we decided to put down some white stone to the back gate, which Ronny wanted to bury in the ground. So we dug this trench, hole, river, pond...what ever it shall be called now, but we haven't put the rock in because we need to level the rest of the yard. So the trench has remained, and it has SAVED us at least 4 times from flooding our patio and coming in our house. See the picture above. I kidded Terry & LaQuita that we were digging a pond, it's really a river!!

We just took out a loan to do some improvements on our house and the loan company said we had to have flood insurance because we were in a flood zone. This was less than 2 weeks ago! We use to be in the flood zone, but only the sidewalk and some of my front yard is in it now so we argued with her about that and we won. Flood insurance has gone from $250/year 10 years ago to $1400/year now!! So when we got up Wed night we were AMAZED at how high the water was, it got in our garage a little over half way. Ronny & I sat out on the front porch watching it pour down rain and the water rising and rolling down our street. The water in the street was over the curbs and up in our yard about half way as well as our neighbors across the street. We both looked at each other and said, "We Might Should Have Gotten that Flood Insurance!" Thankfully it didn't get in the house. We hope this is as close as we come to a flood in this 100 years...we'll keep our trench in the back yard for a while, we might need to invest in some sand bags & sand. We are ready for some sunny days, not HOT, just sunny and dry so we can dry out a little bit!
