The Rose Adventures

Well, things just keep on moving out here. Despite the fact that we've been abandoned by all of our family this fall, we're doing okay. Phil and Wendy have been off to Hawaii for 2 weeks. They're back for a week and a half and then go on a cruise. Then they are back for a couple of weeks and off to Europe for a while! Mom and dad are off in Mexico, hopefully having a good time. We're just working away. The kids are doing well in school although Summer is having a hard time adjusting to the early and late hours this year. They are both swimming on a swim team and have been swimming three nights a week until almost 8 o'clock. Her hours are going to be a little earlier starting this week. They competed in their first swim meet a couple of weeks ago. While they didn't win, the did alright and learned what it's all about. Homework hasn't been too painful. They both are pretty good about it. Half the time we're not even sure what Sierra does. She just gets it done. Simon was promoted to the research and development department this month and is busy learning new computer programs to design new products. He is enjoying it. He is product testing on Sunday - going on a climb with a neighbor. You know the saying "It takes a village to raise a child"? We've decided it takes a village to keep up with Simon. He's got one neighbor to run with, one to fly kites with, one to climb with, and he fits the kids in where appropriate. He's doing a eco-marathon in Catalina next month. 26 miles through the mountains off road. Finally, I am doing better at my job this year. The kids seem better and it's just good to have my own rules set from the start. I am still looking for just the right thing though. I applied for an assistant principal job in my district and I have an interview next week for the county office. If they don't work out, that's okay too, although a little more money would be nice. We've got such a big yard to landscape I dont' know how we'll ever afford it. We adopted a Chihuahua in July. Simon wanted a dog, but not one he'd get too attached to. he wan't ready for another Chamonix. Since he always hated Chihuahua's, he got me and Summer one because we wanted one. Everyone gets along pretty well and I think Simon likes him a lot more than he expected he would. He was about a year when we got him. Well, I've probably bored everyone to death with this unexpected, lengthy blog, but without my mom here, I don't talk nearly as much! I do check for your updates and enjoy them all! Angie
